FA backs Stuart Pearce amid criticism of England Under-21s' tactics

. Manager offered contract extension two years

. Danny Mills condemns denial strategy Pearce

The FA remain convinced that Stuart Pearce is the best man to manage England Under-21 despite the early departure of the night the team's European Championship final and a fountain in the government body confirmed that he did not intend to withdraw from the contract extension of two years was offered to him before the tournament. The former director of Manchester City is also the leading candidate to take over the football team in Britain at the Olympics next summer.

This support comes amid criticism of his team's performance inspired in Denmark and a selection of team leader, especially in the draw with Spain and Ukraine . Their tactics have led to cautious statements he could not fully enjoy its resources.

"When Spain passed the ball they do to create an opportunity for someone. We kept the ball, but do not seem to understand where we were going and what we were doing with him. Too many English players still remained.

"That's why we have not won anything since 1966. Players must be able to express there and chains must be released. If not, will be a long, long time before win anything else. "

Fabrice Muamba, who played 31 times for the U-21 in Pearce, stuck to the manager who made the final in 2009 and the semifinals in 2007. "Do not judge the lighting in a single tournament," said the Bolton midfielder. "It took us two semifinals and a final. I'm sure the team in 2013 will be better."
